Dr. James Petros is the founder of Allied Pain Institute, subspecializing in pain management and musculoskeletal rehabilitation. With his diverse professional and personal backgrounds, Dr. Petros has transcended the science of pain medicine and captured the art of its practice. His integrated approach and balanced understanding of injury and illness are testaments to his unique style.
Dr. Petros has the rare designation of being board-certified in three different medical fields, including the American Board of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (Physiatry), American Board of Pain Medicine, and the American Board of Internal Medicine. In addition, Dr. Petros serves as a State of California Qualified/Agreed Medical Evaluator and medical treatment utilization review authority, providing special expertise in the evaluation and treatment of injured workers amongst other classes of injury.
Dr. Petros completed his undergraduate studies at Santa Clara University, graduating at the top of his class in Biological Sciences. He then completed his medical doctorate with high honors at Tulane University School of Medicine before commencing on a seven year post-graduate training period that included residencies in Internal Medicine and Physiatry in addition to advanced scholarship in interventional Pain Medicine. Dr. Petros reached the culmination of his medical education and training at Stanford University Medical Center, having received numerous honors and awards along his extensive journey.
Dr. Petros is an accomplished clinician, researcher, author, and regional speaker in the arenas of injury and functional rehabilitation. He is also an active member in multiple medical and professional societies, intensively involved in providing and receiving continued medical education. In the course of his budding professional career, Dr. Petros has already gained notable recognitions from America’s Top Physicians and the Who’s Who registry for his work in pain care and rehabilitation.
